Virtually all of the Northern Pintail sightings we've had at the park have been of flocks flying overhead, primarily in December and January, but with a scattering of fall and spring sightings.  Sometimes they fly with American Wigeon, and identification within distant flocks can be difficult, so that we often can only tell there were at least a few of each species, with the rest of the flock left undifferentiated.
